metanoia

stay gold, dumbass

Being born a woman is an awful tragedy. Yes, my consuming desire to mingle with road crews, sailors and soldiers, bar room regulars—to be a part of a scene, anonymous, listening, recording—all is spoiled by the fact that I am a girl, a female always in danger of assault and battery. My consuming interest in men and their lives is often misconstrued as a desire to seduce them, or as an invitation to intimacy. Yet, God, I want to talk to everybody I can as deeply as I can. I want to be able to sleep in an open field, to travel west, to walk freely at night.

animedads:

they’re v. clearly playing Sonic R in this episode of Malcolm in the Middle during which time Malcolm is complaining about how Stevie has “every one of [his] favorite video games—from when [he] was 4” HOWEVER this episode is from early season 2, which finished airing near the end of 2000, at which time Muniz was still 15, his character in the show a year or two younger. which means. this is total bullshit if they expect me to believe that a 15-year-old wouldn’t be HELL OF INTO SONIC THE HEDGEHOG. this show is generally well written, both humorous and realistic in terms of family life and adolescence, but this is one thing I can’t say is realistic at all.
